# TechSpecs Machine-Readable Data > TechSpecs is an independent, machine-readable technical knowledge repository. Manufacturer documentation is used as evidence; TechSpecs maintains its own identifiers, taxonomy, normalized data model, provenance and relationships. ## Machine interface - [Machine retrieval manifest](https://data.techspecs.dev/api-manifest.json): authoritative description of the read-only machine interface, its resources and retrieval rules. - [Product catalogue](https://data.techspecs.dev/catalogue.json): machine-readable index of published product records and their canonical versioned retrieval URLs. - [Versioned product records](https://data.techspecs.dev/api/v1/products/): static, read-only `/api/v1/` product retrieval route. - [Product record schema v2](https://data.techspecs.dev/schemas/product-record-v2.schema.json): JSON Schema for archival-first product records with optional normalized specifications. - [Independent knowledge model](https://github.com/p457techspecs333-del/techspecs-data/blob/main/docs/TECHSPECS-INDEPENDENT-KNOWLEDGE-MODEL.md): design principles for evidence, normalization, provenance and cross-brand interoperability. ## Current product collection The current published product collection includes Apple iPhone records across multiple generations and variants. The catalogue is the authoritative list of records currently published. The interface is designed to support additional brands and product categories without requiring a separate machine interface for each category. ## Product record retrieval 1. Retrieve the catalogue. 2. Identify the exact record using its record_id, product identity and category. 3. Fetch the exact versioned URL in that catalogue entry (`/api/v1/products/{product-id}.json`). 4. Interpret the record using the published JSON Schema. 5. Preserve the distinction between source text, normalized values, derived values and verification status. Example record: - https://data.techspecs.dev/api/v1/products/iphone-17.json The catalogue also retains each record's legacy URL for backwards compatibility. Do not guess a record URL or assume a product exists solely from a guessed filename. ## Data interpretation - Manufacturer statements and source transcriptions are evidence, not TechSpecs-authored conclusions. - Normalized values should be read with their units, source-section references and verification status. - Derived values must be distinguishable from source-stated values and must document their method and inputs. - Missing, unknown, not applicable and unverified values must not be treated as zero or inferred facts. - Verification status describes the checks performed; it is not a guarantee that every source is complete or universally applicable. ## Intended use This host is designed for machine retrieval by AI systems, search and retrieval systems, data integrators and software applications. It is not the consumer-facing TechSpecs website. ## Discovery - Machine retrieval manifest: https://data.techspecs.dev/api-manifest.json - Sitemap: https://data.techspecs.dev/sitemap.xml ## Canonical source - GitHub repository: https://github.com/p457techspecs333-del/techspecs-data
